User Guide: Password Settings Module in Risk Assessment Management Application
Welcome to the Password Settings Module of our Risk Assessment application! This feature allows users to change anything on the application. This guide will walk you through the functionality and capabilities of the Settings module in detail.
- Overview of Password Settings sub module in Risk Assessment:
The Password Settings module in the Settings section of the Risk Assessment product is used to define password complexity policies and login security rules for users in the system.

- What is Password Settings in Risk Assessment product?
- The Password Settings section in the Risk Assessment product is a configuration module that allows administrators to define and enforce password security policies for all users within the system.
- What are the fields available in the Password Settings section of the Risk Assessment product?
- Below fields should be displayed in password settings:
- Password Expiry Month(s): Sets the duration (in months) after which the user's password will expire. Option: Never Expire means the password won't expire automatically.
- The "Password Expiry Month(s)" field in the Password Settings section of the Risk Assessment product allows administrators to define how long a user’s password remains valid before the system requires them to change it.
- Never Expire: The password will remain valid indefinitely. No expiry notification will be triggered.
- 1 Month: The user will be prompted to change their password 1 month after it was last set.
- 2 Month: Password expires after 2 months, and user must update it to continue logging in.
- 3 Months: Similar behavior, based on the selected duration. The system enforces password renewal at the end of the selected period.
- 4 Months: Similar behavior, based on the selected duration. The system enforces password renewal at the end of the selected period.
- 5 Months: Similar behavior, based on the selected duration. The system enforces password renewal at the end of the selected period.
- 6 Months: Similar behavior, based on the selected duration. The system enforces password renewal at the end of the selected period.
- When a password is about to expire, the system may display a notification or warning during login.
- Once expired, the user will be forced to reset their password to regain access.
- Max Login Attempts Times: The “Max Login Attempt Times”** field in the Password Settings section of the Risk Assessment product defines the maximum number of failed login attempts a user can make before their account is automatically locked for security purposes.
- When the user selects "3", the account should be locked after the 4th failed login attempt.
- When the user selects "5", the account should be locked after the 6th failed login attempt.
- When the user selects "10", the account should be locked after the 11th failed login attempt.
- Minimum Characters: The Minimum Characters field defines the least number of total characters a user’s password must contain to be considered valid. To enforce a baseline password length for security. Helps prevent weak or easily guessable passwords. Supports compliance with password security standards.
- In the Minimum Characters field, the number entered specifies the minimum number of characters a user must include when setting their password.
- The Minimum Characters field is mandatory.
- Minimum Special characters: The Minimum Special Characters field specifies the minimum number of special characters (such as @, #, $, %, !, etc.) that a user’s password must contain to be accepted.
- Minimum special characters field is mandatory.
- Minimum Uppercase Letters: The Minimum Uppercase Letters field in the Password Settings section defines the minimum number of uppercase (capital) letters that a user’s password must include in order to be valid.
- Minimum Uppercase characters field is mandatory.
- Minimum Numeric’s: The Minimum Numeric’s field in the Password Settings section specifies the minimum number of numeric digits (0–9) that a user's password must include to be considered valid.

- How to use password Expiry in Risk Assessment Password Settings?
- The Password Expiry feature in the Risk Assessment product's Password Settings is used to enforce automatic password expiration after a specific period. Here's how to configure and use it effectively.
- The "Password Expiry" configuration modal from the Password Settings section of the Risk Assessment product. This screen is used to define how long user passwords remain valid and when users should reset forgotten passwords.
- Password Expiry (Required Field): Sets the duration for which a user’s password remains valid.
- Never Expire – will Password never expire.
- 1–6 Months – Selectable intervals after which the user must update their password.
- Validation: If left blank, an error “Value is required” appears, as seen in your screenshot.
- Effect: When the selected period elapses, users will be prompted to change their password on the next login.
Forgot Password Expiry (Required Field):Defines the validity period for a "forgot password" link sent to the user.
Hours or Days-based duration, such as:
- 1 Hour
- 12 Hours
- 1 Day
- 2 Days
- Also required — users won’t be able to save settings until a value is selected.
- If a user doesn’t use the password reset link within the selected time, the link expires for security.
- What is events section in Password settings details sub module?
Whenever users perform any operation on the Password Settings sub-module in the Settings module, all such activities should be recorded and displayed in the Events section.
Generally in events section we have below fields:
- Action Performed
- Performed By
- Module
- Action Date
- View Details
- Excel Export
- Click Here to view/Hide Details
- Action Performed: Captures all actions such as Create, Update, and Delete performed in the Password Settings sub-module.
- When "Action Performed" is selected in the Sort By field, this column is sorted in ascending order.
- Performed By: Displays the name of the user who made the changes.
- When "Performed By" is selected in the Sort By field, this column is sorted in ascending order.
- Module: Indicates the name of the module where the action was performed (e.g., Password Settings).
- When "Module" is selected in the Sort By field, this column is sorted in ascending order.
- Action Date: Displays the date and time when the action occurred.
- When "Action Date" is selected in the Sort By field, this column is sorted in ascending order.
- View Details: When the user clicks the View Details icon, a popup window appears showing all changes made during that specific action.
- How to search the Password Settings sub module data in events section?
- To search for specific data related to the Password Settings sub-module in the Events section of the Risk Assessment product, follow these steps:
- Go to the Events Section
- Navigate to the Settings > Password Settings page.
- Scroll down to the Events section at the bottom of the screen.
- Locate the Search Field
- You will find a search bar at the top of the events table.
- Enter Search Text
- Type relevant keywords into the search bar, such as:
- Action type (e.g., "Create", "Update", "Delete")
- Username (e.g., "admin@example.com")
- Module name (e.g., "Password Settings")
- Specific dates
- View Results
- If matching data is found, it will be displayed in the events table.
- If no records match your input, the system will show the message:
“No records found.”
- Can we hide/seek Password Settings sub module events screen columns?
- Yes, in the Risk Assessment product, the Events section of the Password Settings sub-module provides functionality to hide or show specific columns.
- Navigate to the Events Section
- Go to Settings > Password Settings, then scroll to the Events section at the bottom of the page.
- Click on "Click Here to View/Hide Details"
- This is usually a dropdown or icon/button above the events table.
- Column Selection Popup Appears
- A popup window will show a list of available columns with checkboxes.
- Select/Deselect Columns
- Checked columns will be displayed in the table.
- Unchecked columns will be hidden from the table.
- Close the Popup
- After selecting your preferences, close the popup.
- The event table will update automatically to reflect the visible columns.
