A new incident tracking and reporting software called Incident-Watch was launched today from Risk Watch International. The Incident-Watch software allows organizations to easily track, notify, and manage incidents that occur within their facilities.

NEW SECURITY RULE IN CONNECTICUT REQUIRES HOSPITALS TO CONDUCT WORKPLACE VIOLENCE ASSESSMENTS

After a devastating workplace violence incident at a Connecticut hospital in February 2010, and a major increase in workplace violence incidents at hospitals, the State of Connecticut became the latest state to pass a new law making workplace violence incidents against healthcare workers a Class C Felony.
Governor Dannel P. Malloy signed the new legislation into law last week. "It will protect the whole state,'' said Mary Consoli, President of Danbury Nurses Union, Unit 47, which was one of the prime forces behind the bill's passage. The bill received the strong support of all local legislators, Republican and Democrat alike.

"I think it's an issue that's non-partisan," said state Sen. Michael McLachlan, R-Danbury. "With an eye on what happened at Danbury Hospital, it seemed to be an appropriate response."

The bill applies to healthcare facilities with more than 50 workers, and requires an annual workplace violence assessment, and creation of a workplace violence prevention and response plan, among other provisions.
